General Description.Pryor Mountains. Currently, highest elevation ca 2727 m (9,000 ft) (M. A. Graham et al. 1987). Cave at 2590 m (8520 ft).
Comments.Fauna of Unit II similar to that of Unit III except for absence of Spermophilus variegatus; also, Camelops restricted to Unit II (M. A. Graham et al. 1987).
Age.Includes pre-14,000 BP material (Walker 1987:348). M. A. Graham et al. (1987): Projectile points from Unit I and top of Unit II, possibly Middle to Early Plains Archaic. M. A. Graham et al. (1987): Unit I radiocarbon dates vary from 1600 ± 90 to 8255 ± 120 BP. Four 14C dates on Unit II: range from 6105 ± 230 to 14,590 ± 300 BP. One date of 10,530 ± 140 from thin lens of charcoal in middle of unit. No dates on Unit III, but believed by Bonnichsen et al. (1985) to be late Pleistocene.
